Sénécal named director of sports at Canal Plus
Thomas Sénécal has been promoted to the director of sports at Canal Plus, the French pay-TV operator.
Sénécal takes up his new role on July 1, succeeding Thierry Cheleman, who held the position for the past seven years.
He will report to Gérald-Brice Vire, the network’s director-general of antennas and programs.
Sénécal has worked at Canal Plus for over 12 years, most recently as the deputy editorial director as which he oversaw motorsports.
Of his appointment, Viret said: “Thomas is a very great professional and, since joining the group, he has demonstrated his ability to deal with all disciplines on our channels, in addition to his predilection for motorsports.
“Under his leadership, the Formula 1TM and MotoGPTM competitions set records. His vision, his high standards, and his ability to meet all challenges will be essential assets in leading the sports department towards new successes. I wish him, on behalf of the group, the greatest success in this position.”
