WISE, the International Convention for Careers in Sports, launches WISE Academy with two exclusive University seminars for sports leaders and elite athletes

WISE – « Work In Sports Exhibition »
Beaulieu Lausanne (SUI), 6 – 7 May 2015

WISE, the International Convention for Careers in Sports, launches WISE Academy with two exclusive University seminars for sports leaders and elite athletes

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 15, 2015 – WISE – Work In Sports Exhibition, in conjunction with its Partner ISSUL (Institute of Sport Sciences of the University of Lausanne), is proud to announce the launch of two academic seminars around the 2015 edition of the Convention to be held in the first week of May.

After a successful first edition having gathered ca. 900 participants from different backgrounds such as leading personalities from international sports federations, industry experts, sports management students as well as athletes in career transition, WISE is aiming to become the only annual event offering an international platform for career development in the sports industry.

Besides the outstanding line-up of international speakers, a high quality Forum programme and a large exhibition area, a special emphasis will be added this year on the educational side. The idea is not only to propose interactive sessions to all participants, including but not limited to career-related live trainings in the fields of leadership, group motivation, speaking in public, etc., but also to offer a proper education seminar.

After the completion of the 3.5 days’ programme (from May 4th to 7th, 2015), including the active participation to WISE 2015, participants will receive an authentic participation certificate delivered and stamped by ISSUL-University of Lausanne together with WISE Academy.

The proposed courses are as follows :

- Academic Course for Leaders of Sport Organisations : how to optimise your commitment at the service of sport

Objectives :
→ to share principles and tools to establish a better governance of the sports organisations
→ to help leaders identify the key points of success in leadership

- Academic Course for Elite Athletes : how to optimise your career and reconversion

Objectives :
→ to help elite athletes in their career management (education path, vocational training, internship, professional project integrated into personal life, etc.)
→ to discover the great diversity of careers that exist within the sport world
→ to learn how to transfer the skills developed during the sporting career to a working environment

Prof. Emmanuel Bayle, ISSUL/WISE Seminar Director, commented : “During their careers, elite athletes acquire different types of skills which are often underestimated. It is therefore essential to make them aware of this reality by accompanying them towards a better preparation for their career after sports. In the same way, sports leaders are confronted with a complex environment in which they are meant to quickly act efficiently and responsibly. In both cases, WISE represents a unique and privileged opportunity to lead them to a deeper and thorough understanding of the diversity and realities of jobs and professional careers”.

Giancarlo Sergi, WISE Director, added : “I am faced daily with professionals asking for career advice in the sports business industry.
By partnering up with ISSUL, a long-standing University with worldwide academic credibility, and setting up this intensive training programme around WISE, we are going one step further in its vision’s development; e.g. to foster career management by offering a 360° sharing platform to all professionals of the sports industry and athletes in career transition.”
