World Academy of Sport Announces Global Athlete Insurance
The World Academy of Sport today announces the world’s first global insurance scheme for athletes travelling and competing around the globe.
Under the banner of “Insure now, Ensure later” the insurance cover is linked to the Academy’s Athlete Education Products that are designed to give the competitive athlete a strong educational base for a future career.
As part of the Academy’s learning programmes, athletes will receive their education with either competition and travel insurance or personal liability and personal accident insurance, as part of the package.
Director of the World Academy of Sport Chris Solly commented “The Academy is constantly working with sporting federations and the two areas that continually arise as a need are education and insurance; through this initiative we are able to provide a practical global solution that is unique”.
“We are committed to helping our International Federation partners serve their members and this is another step forward in this regard”.
The Academy has teamed up with Aon and Brit Insurance to provide this global solution. Aon and Brit Insurance have a long history in the provision of services to sport and the major event industry. Brit Global Market’s acting CEO Matthew Wilson commented: “We are delighted to partner with the World Academy of Sport to provide this unique opportunity for the international athlete community”.
The World Academy of Sport, established in 2005, provides education programmes to many of the World Sport Governing Bodies, their athletes and administrators representing more than one million registered competitors worldwide, and a unique global learning community. Further information about the Academy can be found at www.worldacademysport.org.
