  • Hyundai Motor agrees three year sponsorship deal to support World Archery
  • Deal includes title rights to the World Archery Championships and Archery World Cup
  • Exclusive sponsorship furthers Hyundai’s contribution to development of world sports and culture

Hyundai Motor Company has announced a three-year sponsorship deal supporting World Archery, including title rights for the Hyundai Archery World Cup in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and the Hyundai World Archery Championships in 2017.

The deal sees the Korean vehicle manufacturer receive extensive branding at global archery events and exposure in all related broadcasts, as well as securing sole automotive sector rights to the sponsorship. Hyundai Motor will also work with World Archery on activation partnerships around the events, continuing the brand’s dedication to making emotional connections through sport and culture to communicate with fans and communities around the globe.

World Archery President Prof Dr Ugur Erdener said: “We are proud that Hyundai Motor Group has decided to strengthen its relationship with World Archery by investing in the future of our sport’s world-class events.”

The Archery World Cup, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015, strives to showcase the sport of archery in iconic locations. The series recently visited Mexico City’s central Zocalo Square; and has seen events held under the Eiffel Tower in Paris; in Copenhagen’s Nyhavn Canal; and in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne.

“Our principle has always been to partner elite and intense sporting excellence with iconic backdrops. This is now proven to give real and increasing value to our top level partners,” added Prof Dr Erdener. “We’re honoured to have the support of one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers.”

Hyundai Motor Company Head of Overseas Marketing Group Scott Noh said: “As a global company, we hope to contribute to further development and popularization of world archery with this sponsorship. Hyundai Motor has a history of advocating sport worldwide. This new partnership with World Archery is our commitment to supporting one of the most progressive sports in the Olympic movement.”

Hyundai Motor has a long-standing association with archery, having supported the Korea Archery Association since 1985 by assisting athletes through sports science and providing cutting-edge equipment. In Korea, the women’s archery team of Hyundai Mobis and the men’s archery team of Hyundai Steel are virtually world-class teams, and play a crucial role in the development of Korean archery.

The 2016 Archery World Cup circuit starts on 26 April in Shanghai, China, with worldwide exposure guaranteed as the tournament continues on to Medellin, Colombia and Antalya, Turkey.
