World Wakeboard Championships in Republic of Korea to attract top athletes from 30 countries next week
This will be the most spectacular Wakeboard event of the year!
The City of Busan in the south east of the Republic of Korea will welcome over 160 Wakeboard Riders to the magnificent competition site at Hwamyung Eco Park for the 2013 World Wakeboard Championships. This area contains both Korea’s largest beach and longest river ! The Championships will take place from August 28th to September 1st and spectator numbers are expected to be enormous.
This port City of Busan, with its population of 3.6 million, is actively expanding its focus on major International Sports, Conventions and Exhibitions. The International Olympic Committee declared some time ago that Busan is more than capable of hosting the Olympic Games. It was also the site of the 2002 Asian Games, the Football World Cup Final Draw Ceremony and 2002 FIFA World Cup. The City’s Shinsagae Centum City Department store is the World’s largest. The 2013 World Wakeboard Championships will also be the largest Wakeboard event in the World this year. Both the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) and Korea Waterski & Wakeboard Association (KWWA) anticipate one of the most exciting World Championships for many years as the entry list already contains most of the top Riders in the world today.
The Countries which will participate in these Championships next week will include the following : Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Republic of South Africa, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and the USA. The largest teams competing will be the Host Country, plus Australia, USA, Switzerland, Ireland and Argentina.
Conditions for high quality performances on the water are also likely to be excellent. Sheltered from wind by the surrounding mountains, the average temperatures on site will range from 26C / 82Fh to 34C / 98Fh
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 28th, at 19.00hrs. Following the various Qualification Rounds which start on Wednesday, the Schedule of Events is as follows :

16.00 – World Championships Awards Ceremony
19.00 – World Championships Team Awards Presentation
MasterCraft will provide the official Wakeboard World Championships competition boats and technical support. The Chief Judge, Jung Sanghan KOR, will be supported by IWWF Officials from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Portugal and USA.
