Yonex Denmark Open: Perfect World Class Experience
Yonex Denmark Open this weekend was the largest badminton event so far in Denmark. All the world top players participated, tickets were sold out and spectators made the picture complete and show cased what Denmark can do in terms of hosting par example a World Championship.
Badminton Denmark no doubt positioned itself on both the national and international badminton arena. The world’s best players were gathered in Odense and there was a superb atmosphere from the start right through to the end.
Together with Badminton Denmark, the local badminton club, Sport Event Denmark and Sport Event Fyn have demonstrated a unique cooperation on a high international level.
- I think we can learn a lot from this year. Only the All England Championships offer a similar level of service and quality coverage, says Dave Tully, Total Sport Asia, that administers Premier Super Series.
Also Sport Event Denmark is very pleased with the tournament that fully lived up to the expectations of a world class set-up with lots of spectators and volunteers providing optimal service on all levels.
- It is super cool that Denmark has delivered this ”mini World Championship” just 1½ month before the election of the host for the BWF World Championships 2013 and 2014 is made. We have demonstrated that Denmark can produce a highly professional badminton event. Now Denmark’s chance of being awarded a World Championship is more promising than ever, says Lars Lundov, CEO, Sport Event Denmark.
- With Yonex Denmark Open we delivered a world class tournament and had the business sector in Funen involved as well. We have had an excellent VIP set-up and we are ready to expand on all levels next year. For the first time we also staged a youth tournament with no less than 700 talented players. At the same time we benefited from the momentum and hosted a coaches’ seminar and several networking meetings with our important partners. Thus, Yonex Denmark Open 2011 was much more than just a badminton tournament, says Brian Moesgaard, Event Manager, Badminton Denmark.
The Danish players’ performance was excellent and once again the Danish talent work proved to be of world class format. The International Badminton Federation, BWF, awarded the Danish player, Viktor Axelsen, the price ”The most promising player 2011”.
Yonex Denmark Open is one out of five prestigious tournaments within the Premier Super Series. The other four are: Li Ning China Open, Djarum Indonesia Open, Yonex All England Badminton Championships and Victor Korea Open. This year is the first time that the tournament in Denmark is included in this super league.
