Wembley Stadium Hosts Final ESA Breakfast of 2016

eSports - 30 Sep 2016

eSports was firmly on the agenda as the last ESA Breakfast Briefing of 2016 saw panelists and audience dive deeper into this growing area of fan engagement.

The media briefing room at Wembley Stadium, scene of many historic meetings between press and former England managers, yesterday (Wednesday 28th September) became the centre of eSports learning and discussion as the final ESA Breakfast Briefing of 2016 was held in front of over 100 invited delegates.

Our panel, moderated by Jim Dowling (Havas Sports & Entertainment), comprised of Spike Laurie (ESL), Michael Lister (Harbottle & Lewis), Darren Newnham (Fnatic), George Panayotopoulos (YouTube) and Matt Stevenson (EE), who tackled issues such as sponsor ROI, industry regulation and the 2012 legacy.

“eSports is one of the main talking points of the industry. Its huge audiences offer great potential for sponsorship and fan engagement and everyone involved is keen to work out the best approach” said Karen Earl, ESA Chairman. “Being able to invite our members down to hear the experts debate and answer questions was a valuable exercise and one that we know was warmly received by all those in attendance. We wanted to end the breakfast briefing sessions on a high, and I think that this final breakfast of 2016 has exceeded our expectations. We’re looking forward to announcing our programme for 2017.”

The 2017 schedule of events will be announced later in the year and will be communicated through ESA social channels, website and direct-to-member communications.
