Strong presence of International Federations at the 2017 Smart Cities & Sport Summit in Montréal!

Business - 27 Jul 2017

On October 2-4, 2017, the City of Montréal will become the centre of international sport, with many representatives of international sport federations already signing up to participate in the 2017 edition of the Smart Cities & Sport Summit.

With such a strong presence of IFs expected, the Summit will provide a unique opportunity for cities and event organisers to not only meet the most important senior events representatives, but get great insights on what International Sport Federations expect from the cities that host their events. Two specific sessions of the conference will allow you to do that.

THE MARKET PLACE

The Marketplace is back this year, with many international sport federations, event rights holders, suppliers and service providers in attendance. During this session, these organisations will discuss their events on a one-to-one basis with cities and event organisers. This year, we expect more IFs to be present than ever before and, moreover, they will stay for the entire duration of the Summit, offering cities a unique chance to discuss future opportunities with them. A list of the participating organisations will be communicated in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned!

A SPECIAL IF PANEL

The afternoon of 3rd October will end with a very special panel, composed of representatives of International Sport Federations as well as other events rights holders. The panel members will discuss the factors that influence them in awarding events to host cities, and so promises to be a fascinating session for any city that wishes to get a better understanding of the selection rationale used by IFs and other events rights holders. We are already delighted to announce that the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) represented by Francisco P. Lima,  Senior Legal Counsel,  and the International University Sports Federation (FISU) represented by Eric Saintrond, Secretary General. Other participants from prestigious organisations will be announced shortly!

Should you wish to get inspired on bidding strategies before the Summit, we invite you to read the insightful articles from our website that are featured at the bottom of this email. And as we mentioned FISU, don’t miss the opportunity to bid for the 2023 Summer Universiade – please see the article featured at the bottom of this email for more information!

Welcome Cocktail to be organised in the iconic Montréal Olympic Stadium!

We are very excited to announce that the Welcome Cocktail of the Smart Cities & Sport Summit 2017 will be organised in the Observatory of the iconic Olympic Stadium in Montréal. This venue provides a stunning view of the entire city and will allow participants to relive and feel all the emotions from the 1976 Summer Olympic Games!

We are also happy to announce that the Summit delegates will have the opportunity to visit the many sporting infrastructures located within the Olympic Park, which have all been recently renovated and now provide state-of-the-art training facilities for many Canadian National Sport Federations. This is a great opportunity for your city to get inspired by a ‘live’ case study.

More information about the programme, speakers and additional activities will be communicated over the coming weeks. For all the latest updates or to register, please visit our website!
