Eurovision and NBA renew their partnership for global distribution

Basketball - 12 Sep 2017

Eurovision and the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today that they have extended their agreement for Eurovision to transmit live NBA games, NBA TV and other NBA programming to the league's international television and digital media partners through the 2021-22 NBA season.

Eurovision and the NBA began their partnership in 2012 to ensure basketball fans around the world can follow their teams and see NBA action. Through the new agreement, Eurovision will continue to distribute live games and NBA programming to NBA broadcast partners via its Eurovision Global Network available throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Eurovision will also set up the contribution satellite uplinks from the venues for the preseason NBA China Games 2017 taking place in Shenzhen and Shanghai in October, as well as the regular-season game – NBA London Game 2018 – at the O2 Arena in London in January.

“We're proud to remain the partner of choice for the NBA when it comes to distributing NBA games and programming around the globe,” said Graham Warren, Chief Operating Officer of Eurovision Media Services. “Live sports services are a key part of our business and we look forward to working closely together in the years to come."

The first NBA programming that Eurovision will transmit as part of the new deal will be NBA China Games 2017 when the Golden State Warriors meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in Shenzhen on October 5th and in Shanghai on October 8th. The first NBA regular-season game will be on opening night of the 2017-18 NBA season on October 17th, when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Boston Celtics in a rematch of the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals in the first game of a doubleheader.

“We are excited about extending our partnership with Eurovision from now through the 2021-22 NBA season for our fans in Asia, Europe and the Americas,” said Steve Hellmuth, Executive Vice President, Media Operations and Technology, NBA. “Eurovision has helped us grow the game providing NBA fans around the world with the finest television transmission quality available.”
