The world’s best darts players will fighting for gold at the WDF World Cup Denmark 2021

Darts - 04 Oct 2017

In the fall of 2021 the Danish city, Esbjerg will be the capital of darts when they host the WDF World Cup.

Esbjerg is proud to reveal themselves as hosts of the WDF World Cup in 2021, after being elected by the organization of international darts, World of Darts Federation (WDF) at this year’s World Cup in Japan.

The citizens of Esbjerg are looking forward to a visit of people from around the world:

“Since 2014 Esbjerg has been hosting the annual darts tournament’s, Denmark Open and Denmark Masters. We are incredibly proud that the WDF has appointed Esbjerg as the host city for the WDF World Cup in 2021. We are looking forward to planning the biggest darts-event that the city yet has seen,” says the mayor, Johnny Søtrup.

A Danish vision

The past eight years the Danish Darts Union (DDU), has doubled the amount of members and clubs in Denmark. The interest for darts is at its highest in recent time.

Every year DDU is conducting a darts tournament, Denmark Open and Denmark Masters in Esbjerg, where the organization in corporation with Esbjerg and Sport & Park Event Esbjerg delivers an international darts tournament in world class, which attracts many known and international darts players.

Carsten Jeppesen, Elite Committee Chairman at the Danish Darts Union says from Japan:

“Germany had a really good bid, but at last I think with our big engagement at DDU is a fact. In addition, that we are known for staging great international events with expertise and competences and a good bid material made the result. This is huge for the darts sport in Denmark. We in DDU are looking forward to welcoming the world of darts to Esbjerg together with Esbjerg and Sport Event Denmark”.

A successful collaboration

There is nothing new about Esbjerg hosting big international sporting events. Sport & Park Event Esbjerg has laid floor to major, international sporting events over the years together with Sport Event Denmark.

“With our bid we hit bulls eye! Esbjerg has a lot of experience with international darts events and Denmark has lots of experience with major, international sporting events. Together we will put darts and Denmark on the world map,” says Lars Lundov, CEO, Sport Event Denmark.

Esbjerg, Danish Darts Union, Sport Event Denmark and Sport & Park Event Esbjerg will use all the previous experiences in the preparations for the WDF World Cup 2021.
