Wiz-Team’s solutions benefit 2018 Commonwealth Games operations
The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are now reaching their climax and once more, Wiz-Team’s solutions are being used to support major event operations. In collaboration with além-labs, Wiz-Team provided OSCAR, the Organising System for Courses and Routes, to facilitate the planning, development and operation of the Queen’s Baton Relay, which spread the excitement of the Games to millions of people around the world. The relay for the 2018 Games was the longest and the most accessible ever, having travelled through the entire Commonwealth for 388 days and 230,000 kilometres. OSCAR, which is integrated with Google Maps, was used for planning the route of this complex undertaking. It is a user-friendly, flexible, permanently available tool, and is tailored to complex moving events, including torch and other relays; sporting events such as cycling and running; political campaigns and concert tours. It produces reports, maps, participant information and much more, to manage the event.
Another Wiz-Team solution used at the Queen’s Baton relay is the all-in-one, web-based event management platform Event-Works. It was also successfully deployed for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games two months ago. At the Commonwealth Games, Event-Works served as the platform for the nomination and selection processes of the baton bearers.
