Brazil Awarded as World's Most Successful National Volleyball Federation
Lausanne, 29 February 2000 - The FIVB (FÚdÚration Internationale de
Volleyball) has attributed an exceptional Award to the Brazilian
Volleyball Confederation as recognition for being the World's Most
Successful National Volleyball Federation.
This honorary distinction is granted for the outstanding achievements made
in the last three years by the Brazilian teams, in FIVB Volleyball and
Beach Volleyball World competitions.
In the 1997-98-99 period, Brazil has in particular clinched the highest
number of medals obtained in Beach Volleyball World Tours in both women's
and men's categories, and the highest number of medals obtained in
Volleyball World Competitions in Senior, Junior and Youth.
The Brazilian Confederation, headed by President Ary Graþa Filho, is the
only National Federation having participated in all world events held
during the last 3 years, winning an overall of 128 medals, 117 of which in
Beach Volleyball.
