Brit Games Seeks Commercial Partners
It’s Winter Olympic year and Britain has now it’s own Games –the Brit Games 02- being held in the Heart of the Alps.
Organised in association with Tirol Tourist Board and the Mayrhofen Tourist Office, the BRIT GAMES 02 is officially supported by the BSA, BSSF and SIGB.
'Like its more illustrious namesakes the Brit Games is as much about participation (and having fun) as it is about competition (and recognising achievement)' explains the Brit Games’ event organiser Eddie Ottmann.
The outcome is a wintersport festival that takes in a wide variety of activities whilst still maintaining a prestigious and ISF recognised snowboarding competition.
Under the direction of Scott Todd, the BRIT GAMES 02 will include a greater freestyle element than has been seen in past years.
'Crucial to the event's success is the need to keep it 'open' to the widest group of participants - professional riders, grassroot enthusiasts and the youth and minis' explains Scott, 'And while still concentrating on core snowboarding, we’re taking the opportunity to explore opening up the mountain to other up and coming popular winter pursuits.'
There will be 3 competition disciplines - Slope Style, Halfpipe and Big Air & Style - with riders registered though the BSA competing for a purse of no less than £10,000.
The competition will be supported by Demo sports the likes of New Skool skiing, board skating and blading, as well as a 'Lord of the Rails' jam session.
Full details will be found on www.brit-games.com and on all leading wintersports websites.
On the news of the Games, John O’Grady, Chairman of the BSA and Snowboard Director of the BSSF, provided his total backing saying 'The British snowboarding market needs as many competitions as possible to expose our riders to good racing conditions and improve British riders ability and experience. The Brit Games helps in this process.'
Getting to the Games in Mayrhofen should be easy with official Tour Operator, Board Wild, providing a wide variety of holiday packages by car, coach and air in 2, 3 and 4 star accommodation. Details can be found on
