Canadian Snowboard and Ski Bodies Agree to Closer Ties
Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) and the Canadian Snowboard Federation (CSF) are pleased to announce that both organizations have formed a strategic partnership and are now operating out of one national office in Calgary.
'With only 14 days to go until the start of the Winter Olympic Games we are pleased to report that the partnership is working very well, ' said Kerry Moynihan, ACA President.
'The CSF has two full time staff working with us in Calgary as part of a mentoring relationship. Our goal is to reduce administration costs and work co-operatively in terms of high performance sport, hosting of events, financial management, marketing and communications and finally domestic development.'
Alpine Canada Alpin will be sending 11 athletes to the Olympic Winter Games and nine will compete from the Canadian Snowboard Federation. Both teams are sharing information with the multitude of logistical details in the final lead up to the Games.
A key recommendation in the new national sport plan is to encourage more co-operative efforts between sports in working together to ensure that national sport organizations are as effective and efficient as possible, thereby allowing for a greater distribution of funds earmarked for the development of athletes and coaches.
'The CSF is very pleased with the opportunities for growth that are a direct result of the partnership with ACA,' remarked Adam Faithfull CSF President. 'ACA is a well-developed organization with many years of experience and we want to learn as much as we can as fast as we can to move our sport forward in a professional manner.'
