Calgary, Alta. (November 13, 2003) - The women of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team have recruited the first Official Intimate Sport Apparel Supplier in the team's history, Alpine Canada Alpin and WonderBra announced on Tuesday.
The 17 racers who make up the Canadian Alpine Ski Team's women's program have been supplied with WonderBra's newest sport apparel line, which is also being retailed to the general public. Though not a racing bra, the new line offers Canada's elite female alpine racers with a comfortable, flexible product that is optimal for the dryland training they do throughout the competitive season and during the summer.
In addition, WonderBra is providing individual sponsorship to Gail Kelly, who will wear the company's logo on her headgear throughout the 2003-04 season. Kelly, an eight-year member of the national team, earned a World Cup spot last season by finishing second overall in the women's overall giant slalom standings on the Nor Am circuit.
'Alpine Canada Alpin is committed to providing our athletes with the resources they need to win, and corporations such as WonderBra have bought into our vision of putting our athletes atop the podium at all levels of competition,' said Ken Read, President, Alpine Canada Alpin. 'Individual and team sponsorships are important in allowing us as an organization, and the athletes as individuals, to achieve our goals.'
As part of the agreement, WonderBra's new sport apparel line will garner the Alpine Canada Alpin logo in a commitment to helping market the national team and the sport of alpine ski racing in Canada. Meanwhile, the Canadian Alpine Ski Team's women's program will provide WonderBra with feedback on their product to help the company's research and development initiatives.
'Canada's women's alpine athletes represent an important market for WonderBra - they're young, they're physically fit, and they are very active,' said Marianne Cobb, Marketing Manager for WonderBra. 'We're proud to be working with such a distinguished group of athletes, and look forward to implementing their feedback to ensure our sport apparel line is the best-suited for young, active women. We'll be cheering on Gail and her teammates loudly as they pursue their dreams of excellence this season.'
The WonderBra Sports apparel line provides the active woman with a selection of bras that feature light weight fabrics that offer superior comfort fit and support for all her exercising needs. WonderBra's latest introduction features Double Dry moisture management fabric that will ensure women are left with a cool and fresh feeling while performing physical activity.
Canadelle, a division of Sara Lee Corporation, designs, manufactures and markets WonderBra, the nation's leading brand in intimate apparel. This Canadian brand established in 1939 is committed to providing women with a vast selection of attractive intimate apparel which offers the latest innovations and technology. Other Wonderbra sub-brands include, Wonderbra Plus, WonderBra Sports and WonderBra Just My Size.
