CGF Executive Elections Set For Colombo
The members of the CGF will decide on their leadership team going forward until 2011 when they meet in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from November 5 to 9.
Following the closing of nominations, the 71 nations and territories that constitute the membership of the CGF will vote on the following Executive Board positions on November 9:
President: Michael Fennell OJ CD (Jamaica)
Vice President (2 required): HRH Tunku Imran (Malaysia), Bruce Robertson (Canada), Gideon Sam (South Africa)
Honorary Secretary: Louise Martin CBE (Scotland)
Honorary Treasurer: John Tierney (Cook Islands), Austin Sealy (Barbados)
In addition, each of the six regions will meet on Thursday November 8 to elect their Regional Vice-Presidents, who will also be members of the Executive Board through until 2011. The nominations, by region, are:
Africa: Abdoulie Touray (The Gambia)
Americas: John Hoskins (Bermuda)
Asia: Hemasiri Fernando (Sri Lanka)
Caribbean: Fortuna Belrose (St Lucia), Carson Ebanks (Cayman Islands), Keith Joseph (St Vincent & the Grenadines)
Europe: Ian Emmerson OBE (England)
Oceania: Vidhya Lakhan (Fiji), Tapasu Leung Wai (Samoa)
The Honorary Legal Adviser, the Honorary Medical Adviser and the Athletes’ Representative will be appointed by the newly elected Executive Board from the following nominations that have been received:
Honorary Legal Adviser: Tim Castle (New Zealand), Sharad Rao (Kenya)
Honorary Medical Adviser: Datuk Dr M. Jegathesan (Malaysia)
Athletes’ Representative: Dr. Lesley Rumball (New Zealand)
