CGF To Send Strong Message On Drugs
March 8, 2006. At a media conference to be held on Thursday March 9 at 10.30am, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) will outline the anti-doping measures to be implemented during the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and send a strong message that those breaking the rules will be treated as serious offenders.
The CGF, in cooperation with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), has engaged through Melbourne 2006 the Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA) to apply the strictest code to testing ever at a Commonwealth Games.
CGF President Mr Mike Fennell and CGF Honorary Medical Advisor Dr M. Jegathesan will outline the process for doping control. Also attending the media conference will be Dr Peter Harcourt, chief medical officer for Melbourne 2006 and Mr Richard Ings, Chief Executive of ASDA.
