Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield to Use STATS’ SportVU Player Tracking Technology for Next Generation Player and Team Analysis; STATS Announces Expansion of its Global Network with New Operation Based in South America
Buenos Aires, Argentina – May 20, 2013 – STATS LLC, the global leader in sports information and technology, announced today that Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield will use the firm's innovative SportVU player tracking technology that produces high-end football data in real-time for the most in-depth level of scouting and coaching analysis.
STATS’ collaboration with Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield is a key milestone in the launch of its new data collection and sales office in South America. “STATS is proud to extend its global network to Argentina and we could not be more excited that Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield, one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, will be our first SportVU partner in the region,” said Gary Walrath, CEO at STATS.
SportVU utilizes a sophisticated technology to collect X, Y positioning data of the ball and participants (players and referees) within the playing field in real time. The technology is used by FIFA, UEFA, TV Globo and a host of flagship European soccer teams in addition to 15 NBA teams.
SportVU offers powerful lineup of unique performance data and analysis points, highlighting among other things speed profiles, accumulated distances, fatigue, fitness graphs and coverage maps. These player and team based insights allow Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield to measure performance data during matches and training sessions, providing the club a distinct advantage over its competition.
