Cricket Scotland Chief to Become ICC Development Programs Manager
This new role, reporting to the Global Development Manager Matthew Kennedy, will primarily be responsible for overseeing the work of the ICC’s Regional Development Managers across the globe.
Mr Smith will also be charged with establishing the strategy and delivery of the five Regional Development Programs of Africa, the Americas, Asia, East Asia – Pacific and Europe as the ICC enters a new phase after a period of rapid expansion in membership and activity.
Commenting on the appointment, ICC Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Speed said: “It is great that the ICC has been able to identify an administrator of Roddy’s quality, from within one of our leading Associate Members, to fulfil this very important role within our Development Department.
“Roddy has extensive cricket management experience, together with a wide background in the delivery of sports programs at Sport Scotland, and we look forward to welcoming him and his family to Dubai from mid-July.”
Mr Smith said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years at Cricket Scotland and together with all the professional staff, Board members and volunteers in our sport we can be proud of the success we have achieved in all our activities.
“It is a shame to be leaving when we are only a year away from the World Cup and with so many exciting developmental opportunities at hand, but I have been offered a fantastic professional opportunity at the ICC and it is one that simply could not be turned down.
“Leaving Scotland will be hard for my family but we are all very excited by the opportunity afforded to us in Dubai,” he added.
