DB Schenker Transports German Olympic Team’s Luggage to London
(Frankfurt am Main/Mainz, June 28 2012) As the official logistics partners of the German Olympic team for 2012, Schenker Deutschland AG is currently transporting the first consignment containing team clothing to London.
Top athletes in the table tennis, badminton, track cycle sprint and shooting disciplines were today fitted with the team outfits supplied by adidas, Bogner and Sioux in the sports hall of the Kurmainz-Kaserne in Mainz, Rhine-Main-area. “Our logistics specialists are working 24/7 on the Olympics project so that the sports equipment, coaching and competition material as well as the team medical kit reach London safely,” explains Christian Schultze, Head of DB SCHENKERsportsevents at Schenker Deutschland AG.
DB Schenker’s sports specialists are providing the whole range of logistics services for the German Olympic team: from planning the overland and air freight transports via materials handling to distribution in the Olympic village or to the competition sites. As DB Schenker is also the “Logistics Partner of the German House London 2012”, supplies to this central meeting point for German athletes, sponsors, media representatives and politics will all be in the hands of the specialists. Together with British colleagues, the DB SCHENKERsportsevents operation team is transporting office equipment, furniture, security equipment and even German beer to the Museum of London Docklands, where the German House will be located during the 2012 Olympic Games (July 27 to August 12, 2012).
DB Schenker can look back on a long tradition of Olympic projects: the logistics specialist was the official forwarder at the Olympic Games held in Munich back in 1972.
