E.ON to Support FT Sport Industry Summit 2007

Business - 11 Sep 2007

The Sport Industry Group and the Financial Times are delighted to unveil energy brand E.ON as a supporter of the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007 on 1st November.

The Summit will attract a host of leading practitioners from the business of sport to the Cumberland Hotel in central London.

The brand has signed up to support the panel entitled ‘Sport’s Green Mission – The Environment Debate’ – a discussion which will feature some of the world’s most high-profile heavyweights from the worlds of business and sport discussing the foremost challenges in how the industry deals with green issues.

The panel is one of an array of debates, interviews and keynote addresses outlined for the day in which sport’s top decision-makers from government, governing bodies, broadcast and media, sponsorship, finance and business will all return to discuss the key issues affecting the industry at the second annual FT Sport Industry Summit.

Among the speakers already confirmed for this year’s Summit include Dick Pound, chairman of WADA and former IOC vice president; Nick Fry, CEO, Honda F1 Racing; David Gill, CEO, Manchester United; Brian Barwick, chief executive, The Football Association; Tim Leiweke, president, Anschutz Entertainment Group; Etienne de Villiers, president, ATP; Jacques Raynaud, vice-chairman, Eurosport International; Randall Campbell, managing director – head of the Sports Advisory and Finance Group, Société Générale Corporate Investment Bank; Sir Keith Mills, deputy chair, and Paul Deighton, CEO, London 2012 organising committee LOCOG.

These leaders represent a selection of the industry’s key protagonists, from all across the globe, who will make up the panels at the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007, offering their insight and experience to the array of delegates from all sectors of the sport industry who will gather for this year’s event.

E.ON's Head of Sponsorship, Mike Thompson, said: ‘Environmental issues are widely recognised as one of the greatest challenges to our society today and we see it as the business of the sport industry to face up to our collective contribution.

‘Sport provides a great opportunity to communicate these messages and to encourage fans to interact with sport in a more environmentally conscious way. It is with great pride that we contribute to this debate and hope that wider awareness of and commitment to green issues further encourages the sport industry to tackle this global issue.’

E.ON joins Eurosport International and Société Générale Corporate Investment Bank in supporting the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007.
