AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007 Boxer Numbers Break AIBA All Time Record

Boxing - 22 Aug 2007

August 21, 2007 – It’s confirmed. The AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007 will be a record-breaking event following the enlisting of 623 boxers from 114 countries following the close of the entry deadline on August 17th.

The total number of boxers and countries, which has the potential to increase due to extensions allocated by AIBA prior to the deadline, will make the AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007 the biggest World Championships in AIBA history, surpassing the previous mark for AIBA’s premier event of 412 boxers from 74 countries in 2005. The Organizing Committee will send letters to all federations to confirm their entries and to provide further information on hotel, training camp, visa, venue, etc. in order to keep all participants well informed prior to their travel to Chicago. The AIBA World Boxing Championships Chicago 2007, which is the opening qualifying event for the 2008 Olympic Games, begins on October 23 and finishes on November 3.
