ESPN Star Sports Gets Wimbledon Broadcast Sponsorship Deal
12 May 2004, Singapore: ESPN STAR Sports , Asia’s number one sports broadcaster has sealed a broadcast sponsorship deal with Hong Kong carrier Cathay Pacific Airways for the world’s most prestigious tennis tournament, the Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon.
The deal will see Cathay Pacific Airways enjoying regional association with Wimbledon this year on STAR Sports through a combination of on-air and online benefits. This includes on-air entitlements on all ‘live’ matches on STAR Sports Asia and sponsorship of the Cathay Pacific Champions of Wimbledon Competition.
From 14 May to 20 June, promos will run on STAR Sports inviting tennis fans to participate in an online competition on www.espnstar.com.
Two lucky contestants will each win a trip to Wimbledon to catch the Men’s and Women’s finals respectively on 3 and 4 July 2004.
Cathay Pacific’s sponsorship also extends to ‘Wimbledon Update’ on SportsCenter Asia and SportsCenter Taiwan, both of which deliver the most up-to-date reports on sporting action around the world. The ‘Wimbledon Newsletter’ will also be made available to tennis fans on espnstar.com, espnstar.com.cn and espnstar.com.tw .
