Euroleague Basketball Announces October Re-Launch of Official Website

Basketball - 14 Sep 2006

Athens, Greece. 13 September 2006: The excitement surrounding the upcoming 2006-07 season could be felt in Athens one day before the Euroleague Basketball Draw as representatives of all 24 teams gathered Wednesday for meetings of the Euroleague Board and Euroleague General Assembly. During those meetings, Euroleague Basketball announced the imminent relaunch of its official website, Euroleague.net, on Monday, October 2.

Given a 66% percent jump in Euroleague.net traffic last season, Euroleague Basketball continues seeking to improve communications with fans and the media while projecting all the dynamism of the continent's top competition. The new Euroleague.net will feature a streamlined design for easier navigation and a multi-tiered platform that permits content enhancements now and in the future. Better presentation of multimedia, more expansive statistics and new editorial features are some of the improvements fans will see right away. At the same time, Euroleague.net will continue to offer the best information available anywhere for fans of European basketball.

The relaunch of Euroleague.net on October 2 will coincide with the introduction of a new edition of Euroleague Fantasy Challenge, entering its third season as a magnet of fun for Euroleague fans worldwide. That same week, starting on Thursday, October 5, the stars of the Euroleague Basketball will be seen in a new format, NBA Europe Live, an eight-game, five-country preseason showcase between teams from the world's top two professional leagues.

Opening game will celebrate DKV Joventut's 75th anniversary

Athens, Greece.  13 September 2006: Among the other news out of Wednesday's meetings, it was announced that the opening game of the 2006-07 Euroleague will be on Monday, October 23 in Badalona, Spain, featuring former continental champion DKV Joventut, celebrating its 75th anniversary, against one of the top three teams of last season - CSKA Moscow, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv or Tau Ceramica - depending on the results of Thursday's draw.

Fans can follow the 2006-07 Euroleague Basketball Draw live starting at 10:30 CET in the first-ever live streaming broadcast on Euroleague.net!
