Euroleague Basketball Forges Business, Sporting Ties in Shanghai
A group of Euroleague representatives that included Jordi Bertomeu, the Euroleague Basketball CEO, and Enzo Lefebre, the General Director of Verde Sport, met with Ms. Cherry Yang of the city's Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with representatives of the Shanghai business communty. The meeting included discussions of the opportunity for Shanghai companies to collaborate with Euroleague Basketball, and eventually with its teams, in order to take advantage of the competition's presence in 23 different European countries.
In addition to talking with business leaders, Euroleague Basketball also met with the local foreign relations director, Mr. Weimin, and with his counterpart in Shanghai's sport authority, Mr. Yan, with whom it was discussed the possibility of organizing future events in the city. Shanghai has already established a vocation for organizing international sports events, as evidenced by the fact that in a matter of weeks this fall, the city will host a Formula 1 race, the Special Olympics, a Masters Tennis tournament and NBA pre-season games.
