Euroleague.net Traffic Jumps 66% in One Year
Like the competitions it follows, Euroleague.net enjoyed solid growth during the 2005-06 season, during which traffic to Euroleague Basketball's official website rose two-thirds from the previous year.
From last season to this, Euroleague.net witnessed huge jumps in both unique visitors and their total number of visits. Approximately 3.4 million fans visited Euroleague.net during the 2005-06 season, blasting the previous record of 2.1 million from the 2004-05 season. That 66% increase in visitors was almost matched by the visits they made to the website, approximately 7.2 million as compared to 4.4 million the previous season, a 64% improvement. All those new Euroleague.net fans proved as loyal as their predecessors, too, considering that the average number of visits per visitor to Euroleague.net held steady from 2004-05 to 2005-06.
The new 2005-06 figures don't even count all the visitors to Euroleague Basketball Fantasy Challenge, who totalled 277,672 this season, as compared to 149,385 in the last. Visits to Fantasy Challenge soared to 747,203 in the contest's second season, up from 351,393 in the first.
Those strong growth figures are based on traffic to Euroleague.net, which covers both the Euroleague and the ULEB Cup, between October 1 and April 30 of the last two consecutive seasons.
"From its inception, Euroleague.net has been the access point to our basketball for fans and media worldwide," Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu said. "By continually evolving, Euroleague.net has been able to attract more and more visitors, which confirms the success of the work being done and helps us define the future steps we want to take in the web area. Those future steps must be ambitious so that we keep offering a good service to all Euroleague.net users."
According to Euroleague.net editor-in-chief Frank Lawlor: "It is quite gratifying to know that our website is not only attracting large numbers of new fans from all over the planet, but also seeing them return as committed regular visitors to Euroleague.net. Our goal of always adding value to the content menu - with innovations like Fantasy Challenge, translations in 10 or more languages, as well as European domestic league coverage - remains strong as ever. At the same time, we have re-dedicated ourselves to presenting Euroleague Basketball in more eye-appealing and user-friendly ways to our great fans."
