Europe’s Best Bowling Players Meet in Denmark
More than a 170 bowling players from 31 European nations battle for the medals in the European Men's Championship 2009 taking place in the city of Aalborg, in the northern part of Denmark.
Bowling may not be an Olympic sport, but this doesn’t stop the players from taking their sport very seriously. And this commitment shows at a European Championship stretching over 8 full days of competition. All in all 5 gold medals are at stake before the event end Saturday 13 June. On Friday the 12th, competition runs for 14 hours! This means long days in the bowling centre -
The Danish Bowling Federation are constantly trying to extend their marketing possibilities, gaining spectators and – not least – sponsors for the sport. Therefore the finals from this years European championships are live streamed.
- We tried live streaming last year at the European Women Championships, and were pleasantly surprised by the interest it received and the number of viewers from all over the world – we had more than 20.000 viewers in average watching the finals. This year, of course, we hope to beat that, says Klaus Kristiansen, head of marketing at the Danish Bowling Federation.
Live streaming is also a way to offer sponsors good exposure:
- There is room for 10 banners next to the streaming window. So when you have 20.000 viewers watching bowling, some for hours, the sponsors really get their moneys worth, says Klaus Kristiansen
Watch the live stream here from Friday 5pm, European Standard Time: www.bowling.dk

The Danish Bowling Federation are very experienced eventorganisers - The European Men Championship is the 8th international championships conducted in the Løvvang centre, the largest bowling facility in Denmark. And last year the European Women Championships were held in the city of Odense.
