AMA Supremoto on OLN again in 2006
The AMA Supermoto Championship begins this weekend at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and is set to finish in November in Long Beach, Calif. AMA Supermoto combines elements of Supercross, Motocross, Flat Track and Road Racing on purpose built tracks that feature both dirt, jumps and high speed pavement sections. Top AMA racers from around the globe including 2005 Supermoto Champion Jurgen Kunzel, Jeff Ward, Doug Henry and Travis Pastrana compete to determine who is the best all-around motorcycle racer.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with OLN,” said John Farris, AMA Pro Racing Vice President of Commercial Development. “OLN is growing along with the series and AMA Supermoto provides some of the best racing action to be found in motorsports. This television package will offer great exposure for our sponsors and the teams participating in the championship.”
OLN has shown a strong commitment to providing top-notch motorsports action to its broadcast lineup. In addition to the AMA Supermoto Championship the network is also the television home to the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF.
“We are fortunate to have riders such as Jeff Ward, Doug Henry and Travis Pastrana participating in AMA Supermoto,” continued Farris. “Those riders give real star power to our shows and we want to make stars out of the other top riders in the series as well. AMA Supermoto, with its sliding action, major jumps and racing on unique tracks brings a lot of visual impact to the shows. The series continues to grow in prestige with riders from around the world participating and we’re happy to be part of that growth.”
Red Bull KTM’s Jurgen Kunzel will try to defend his championship in 2006, but is expected to face tough competition from 2005 champ Jeff Ward as well as riders such as Doug Henry and Mark Burkhart.
OLN is offering to email show reminders to keep fans up to date on AMA Supermoto broadcast times. Go to http://www.olntv.com/ to sign up for the service.
