FIBT and Infront to Extend Existing Partnership Through to 2011
Zug, Switzerland, 21 April 2006 — Infront Sports & Media and the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT) have signed a new exclusive agreement covering the worldwide media rights for the Men's and Women's bobsleigh and skeleton World Championship and World Cup events.
The agreement also extends Infront’s role with the FIBT in representing key marketing packages for the sport’s top-tier sponsorship programme. The agreement is effective from the start of the 2006/07 season and runs for a period of five years through the 2010/11 season. Infront’s association with the FIBT dates back to 2003.
As part of the agreement, Infront will market all forms of media and electronic media rights including TV, radio, internet and mobile communications worldwide. Infront plans to offer segmented packages market-by-market, including live, delayed and highlight coverage. The FIBT will continue to produce its own high quality television coverage for the FIBT events — a cutting edge standard that the FIBT has pioneered over the past 10 years.
The marketing of the new media rights will be highlighted by the joint development and relaunch of the Federation’s official website (http://www.bobsleigh.com/). Infront will also develop innovative interactive services targeting fans and consumers in partnership with the FIBT.
The partnership includes an appointment to market key sponsorship packages for the FIBT’s World Championship and World Cup events. This allows Infront to continue its commitment towards the federation’s marketing and sponsorship programme with a common objective to identify long-term partners who recognise the exciting attributes and values afforded by the sport.
Robert H. Storey, President of the FIBT said, "The new agreement with Infront is an exciting turning point for our sport. Expanding our partnership provides the opportunity to reach new markets by placing greater resources into the marketing and promotion of the sport. Infront has a proven track record in sports marketing and their work for us in the past has demonstrated that the partnership warrants an expanded role in the interest of growing the FIBT properties."
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Infront to further extend its role with the FIBT. It also further strengthens Infront’s leadership position in the marketing of winter sports. We are confident the FIBT properties are capable of reaching new broadcast markets and capitalising better on new media opportunities available today. This will help raise the profile of the sport, while also making it more attractive to event sponsors and organisers,” Oscar Frei, CEO of Infront Sports & Media, added.
