FIG Bans Spanish Gymnast After Doping Offence
The doping case regarding the Spanish Gymnast Gervasio Deferr has been resolved by the FIG Disciplinary Commission.
The gymnast is to exclude for a period of three months from international competitions. The exclusion operates retrospectively from 19 October 2002, being the date of the first drug test, in accordance with the Doping Control Rules. In 2002, the results achieved in the World Cup events in Paris and Stuttgart, as well as those of the World Championships in Debrecen will be removed from the lists. The sanction also required the gymnast to refund any prize money and to give the medals back.
By July 24, 2003, date of expiration of the deadline, no appeal has been produced against the Commission’s decision. / ps
