FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup Signs Naming Rights Sponsor

Field hockey - 31 Jul 2002

The 10th FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup has announced the signing of the naming sponsor. The sponsorship of the Event by Goodman Fielder through the Meadow Lea label will be known as the Meadow Lea Women’s Hockey World Cup.

Goodman Fielder has taken the decision to utilise the profile and significance of the Women’s World Cup to profile its Meadow Lea extension product – the Omega Three range.

Meadow Lea former long term sponsors of the Iron women Surf League have chosen to continue their support of women’s sport by backing the World Cup.

The linking of the brand with a high profile event such as this enables the message to reach a wider audience in a truly positive environment.

Australia will be defending their title when they compete against 15 nations in an intensive competition commencing 24 November at the Perth Hockey Stadium.

The Meadow Lea Women’s Hockey World Cup also announced a number of other sponsors today. These include Malaysia Airlines, Eventscorp, Lotteries Commission, Burswood International Resort Casino, Curtin University, Healthway, and Cadbury Schweppes.

Carolyn Parker – General Manager of the Meadow Lea Women’s Hockey World Cup said 'Staging an event of this magnitude is a huge undertaking and is not possible without the support of the corporate world. We are very honoured to have such a prestigious and capable group of sponsors to make this event happen in Perth'.

In total the Meadow Lea World Cup has secured $1.3 million in corporate and government support.
