FISE expands its footprint on continents & narrows list of host cities for its 2016-2018 World Series

Action sports - 16 Jul 2015

With a presence in Europe and Asia, FISE footprint will continue to grow on an international scale from 2016, and extend its position as one of the leaders in the Action Sports event industry.

Early this year, FISE launched a tender process to find additional Host Cities for its 2016-2018 World Series featuring emerging sports: BMX, Skateboard, Roller, Mountain Bike and Wakeboard.

The FISE World Series Committee was delighted to see the high level of interest expressed by numerous cities worldwide, all working towards achieving similar goals: encourage sport participation, engage with youth and promote action sports, develop tourism through sporting events hence drawing social, cultural and economic benefits to the city and the country as a whole.

The Selection Committee congratulates the candidates cities which put time and great effort into submitting well thought and remarkable bids and proudly announces the 5 destinations which have made the shortlist.

Denver (US), Edmonton (Canada), Kazan (Russia), Qatar, United Arab Emirates - are all in the running to stage the 2016-2018 FISE World Series including the first ever BMX Freestyle UCI World Cup.

Only 3 cities will join Montpellier (France), Chengdu (China) and Langkawi (Malaysia) in 2016, bringing the number of FWS stages to 6. The FWS Committee will continue in-depth discussions with each of the cities and the finalists. Host will be announced this Fall.

After the smashing success of stage 1 in Montpellier last May, FISE World Series will be travelling to Chengdu-China on October 16-18 before heading to Langkawi on December 16-18 for the ultimate stop of the 2015 FISE World Series.

The first and unique Action Sports World Tour is about to reach larger audiences and set new attendance record !

So Stay tuned and Keep an eye out for further announcements !
