FITA Adopts ADAMS
“ADAMS is the most innovative solution available for coordinating anti-doping activities,” said Tom Dielen, FITA Secretary General. “This is important because ADAMS does three critical things for us: it increases our efficiency, it economizes our resources, and it protects our data in a secure environment.”
With ADAMS in place, everyone involved in anti-doping in archery is able to coordinate information within one secure system, including the athletes who provide whereabouts information and FITA which orders tests and manages results. “The final analysis is that ADAMS greatly enhances our efforts to protect the integrity of our sport and the safety of athletes,” Tom Dielen said.
The four modules making up ADAMS are integral to the global anti-doping system:
- Athlete Whereabouts: Relevant stakeholders in the fight against doping share whereabouts information, crucial for maximizing the surprise effect and the efficiency of unannounced out-of-competition testing; athletes update their information online, from anywhere in the world.
- Doping Control Platform: Stakeholders use ADAMS to manage a registered testing pool and its results, as well as the process for hearings, sanctions, and appeals.
- Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Management: Stakeholders and athletes manage TUE requests online, as well as notification of those involved in the process. Approved TUEs can be linked with abnormal test results.
- Information Clearing House: To ensure the coordination of anti-doping activities, all data is stored and protected, including lab results, TUEs and anti-doping rules violations. Sharing information among relevant organizations guarantees that anti-doping activities are performed with the highest level of transparency.
“WADA welcomes FITA’s partnership in ADAMS,” said WADA director general David Howman. “The availability of ADAMS is a significant step forward for global efforts to rid sport of doping because it simplifies the process for everyone and helps all parties to become even more efficient at catching the cheaters and levelling the playing field for clean athletes around the globe. FITA’s adoption of ADAMS to manage its anti-doping efforts is a testament to the organization’s commitment to clean sport.”
