FIVB Volleyball World Ranking Update

The new Volleyball World Rankings for men's and women's national teams have been published by the FIVB. This update include the results of the World Cups '99 played in November in Japan. The points distributed for both World Cups, men's and women's, are: 100 (1), 90 (2), 80 (3), 70 (4), 50 (5), 40 (6), 30 (7), 25 (8), 5 (9,10,11,12). '99 Grand Prix winner Russia is still leading the women's ranking, preceding World Cup's winner Cuba thanks to the points accumulated for the Juniors' results. Triple World Champion Italy is still leading the men's ranking but see World Cup's winner Russia getting closer as they jump from 4th to 2nd place. Men's ranking as per Dec. 15th, 1999 (previous ranking in brackets): 1. (1) ITALY 259.50 2. (4) RUSSIA 235.00 3. (3) CUBA 225.50 4. (2) BRAZIL 195.00 5. (8) USA 123.00 6. (5) YUGOSLAVIA 109.50 7. (9) SPAIN 92.75 8. (6) NETHERLANDS 81.50 9. (7) ARGENTINA 66.75 10.(11) CANADA 65.50 Women's ranking as per Dec. 15th, 1999 1. (1) RUSSIA 258.50 2. (4) CUBA 250.00 3. (3) BRAZIL 237.00 4. (2) CHINA 215.50 5. (6) KOREA 137.50 6. (5) ITALY 133.75 7. (9) JAPAN 94.75 8. (7) CROATIA 89.25 9. (8) NETHERLANDS 64.00 10.
