Another Win for Denmark

Sailing - 06 Jun 2007

Denmark and the City of Vallensbaek (Copenhagen Region) have just landed the Finn Gold Cup Class World Championship 2009 (sailing).

The election took place at the Finn Class General Assembly in Hungary on 2nd. June.

2009 has been announced “The Danish Year of Sports” in Denmark with many international sports events and sports conferences taking place in Denmark.

The election of the Finn Gold Cup Class World Championship follows only 14 days after Denmark/Copenhagen succeeded in securing the Taekwondo World Championships in 2009. Both events are major and prestigious and along with an impressive number of other sports events and congresses they will contribute to The Danish Year of Sports 2009.

“Denmark is leading the way when it comes to securing major international sports events these days” says Mr. Lars Lundov, Executive Director, Sports Foundation Denmark and highlights the UCI World Road Championships 2011 and the UCI World Track Championships 2010, which were both secured earlier this year.

“The Danish Year of Sports” in Denmark also counts the World Wrestling Championships, the World 470 Sailing Championship, the World Standard Dance Sport Championship, the IOC Session & Congress and many more international events.
