Snowboard - 12 Jan 2005

Channel 4 has acquired exclusive terrestrial rights to the Snowboard World Championships being held in Whistler, British Colombia, January 15-23. Channel 4 will dedicate over five hours of coverage to the championships, complemented by an agreement with digital broadcaster Extreme Sports Channel for extended highlights across UK, Europe and the Middle East. These agreements were negotiated by London-based RDA Communications for international rights owner Wige Media of Cologne.

Held every two years, the world’s best snowboarders will converge this weekend on Whistler, mecca of Snowboarding, for the first time ever in North America. Competitors from over 40 countries around the world will be on hand to compete for top honours in the McDonalds Halfpipe, Big Air, Nissan Snowboard-Cross, TELUS Parallel Slalom and Parallel Giant Slalom events.
