Gwangju Universiade celebrating 150 days to go with local residents
The Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) held a parade at the center of Chungjang Road to celebrate the 150 days to-go mark with the local community.
The parade started at the Chungjang Post Office with a flash mob event and samul nori (a genre of traditional percussion music originating in Korea) performance. Students from Gwangju Songwon Elementary School did an outstanding job building up the excitement with their samul nori tunes. The elementary students leaded the parade with the GUOC staff, volunteers, and local residents following behind.
The GUOC PR director, SONG Seung-jong commented, “Today’s parade will not be the last event to promote the Universiade Gwangju 2015. As the GUOC is preparing more fun events for everyone, I hope we can keep the excitement going until the Universiade in July.”
