IBF Gets New Chief Operating Officer
The International Badminton Federation (IBF) has confirmed the appointment of Andrew Ryan as Chief Operating Officer (COO), currently in an acting capacity.
This new position replaces that of the post of Chief Executive, formerly held by Neil Cameron, who left IBF in November.
It is expected that Ryan will announce further significant staff changes in the New Year as part of a reshuffle which may include changes to the Council structure, to be discussed at the Annual General Meeting in May 2004 in Jakarta.
'My priority is to lead the secretariat in working together with IBF's Council, Executive Board and the Continental Confederations as a team,' said Ryan.
'We need a united badminton family to radically re-position the sport over the next two years to provide a platform from which we can accelerate global development.
'Looking ahead to the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, badminton is a very strong sport in Asia but with recent rapid growth and 153 national member associations, the time is right to strengthen the Confederations and take new measures to accelerate the establishment of badminton as a high-performance sport on a global basis.'
