IBF unveils new Anti-Doping Statutes

Badminton - 17 Dec 1999
IBF today reaffirmed its opposition to doping in sport with the unveiling of its new Anti-Doping Statutes, to be implemented at the beginning of the New Year. The new Statutes fall in line with the IOC's Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code, published earlier this year, and will provide a standard framework in which IBF and its members can operate their doping control activities. Roger Johansson, Chair of IBF's Medical Commission, said: "This is a valuable paper which marks a step forward for IBF in clarifying its entire approach to the anti-doping issue, and its commitment to preventing, detecting and punishing doping in our sport." The new statutes include full details of doping control policy, regulations and procedures. In creating the new paper, additional changes have been made to the current references to Doping Control in the IBF Statute Book (click here for changes). The amendments take effect as of 1 January 2000, and will appear in the 2000/2001 IBF Statutes, to be published in the summer.
