Approximately 200 athletes will compete for top honours in the men’s, ladies, pairs and ice dance disciplines in Calgary. Many of the athletes competing in Calgary, including the Canadian Olympic figure skating team, will be coming off competition at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy.
The event will be headlined by a number of Olympic medallists, including American Sasha Cohen, Stephane Lambiel, of Switzerland, Canada’s Jeffrey Buttle, the pair team of Dan Zhang and Hao Zhang, of China, and the American ice dance team of Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto.
Fans will also get the chance to see all four Canadian Champions – Buttle, Joannie Rochette, ice dancers Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon and pair Valérie Marcoux and Craig Buntin, as well as Canadian team veterans Emanuel Sandhu and ice dancers Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe and up-and-comers Mira Leung, Shawn Sawyer and the pair team of Jessica Dubé and Bryce Davison.
