IEC and IBF in European Sales Drive

Badminton - 16 Dec 2005

International Badminton Federation (IBF) have appointed IEC in Sports to exclusively handle the European television rights for all major IBF properties from 2006-2009.  This includes the 2006, 2007 and 2009 IBF World Championships, the 2007 and 2009 Sudirman Cup and the 2006 and 2008 Thomas & Uber Cup.   IBF`s and IEC´s Agreement covers all forms of media – television, broadband, 3G and other new media as well as global news distribution.

"The International Badminton Federation is committed to refining and enhancing the sport, to create a genuine global entertainment brand.   IEC in Sports has a long history with badminton and an excellent track record of selling IBF Grand Prix events into European markets.  We look forward to a strong partnership and market growth" said Datuk' Punch Gunalan, IBF Deputy President.

" Badminton helped IEC break into the global television market.    Since 1994, we have worked closely with the sport and after opening of IEC offices in Asia in 2000, we started to add many IBF Grand Prix events. We are therefore very pleased to partner with the governing body with the finest badminton events the sport can offer”, said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports.
