IEC in Sports Appointed to One of Europe's Prominent Football Leagues
IEC in Sports, the established Swedish-based Television Distribution Agency, has been appointed to handle the European, Middle Eastern and North African Television Distribution of the prestigious Portuguese Football League, the equivalent of Portugal’s Premier League.
Under the terms of the agreement, IEC will handle distribution of the Portuguese Football League to many of the world’s most attractive markets for Portuguese Football, including UK, France, Poland, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia and Middle East.
The deal comes following IEC’s successful previous campaign with the Portuguese Football League during the previous 2 seasons where IEC managed a large number of distribution agreements throughout the world.
IEC successfully beat strong competition from a number of recognized TV rights distributors and leading industry names in getting this mandate ahead of other high-profile bidders.
“Football is obviously a very competitive business in our and most other industries and we see Sport TV’s decision to select IEC ahead of a large number of our competitors as something which speaks volumes for IEC’s growing presence in the sports television business”, said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports.
“It is a great pleasure to keep our partnership with IEC, a company that has done a very good marketing job in the past with the main Portuguese Football Competition. The international interest for the Portuguese League has grown strongly in the past years and we hope to keep this growing interest in the next years together with IEC”, said Bessa Tavares, Board Member, Sport TV Portugal.
As one of Europe’s major leagues, the Portuguese Football League offers broadcasters the chance to access a large number of matches each week, showcasing many of the world’s leading footballers and assured through a high level of Host Broadcasting by one of Europe’s leading sports broadcasters in Sport TV Portugal.
A large number of packages are available in Europe from IEC including:
A minimum of approx 4 matches per week available on a live or near-live delayed basis usually comprising the following evening/prime-time matches:
1 x Friday match
1 x Saturday match
1 x Sunday match

Weekly highlights available via satellite at the end of each round of matches
