IEC Offers Triple Serving of Badminton

Badminton - 17 Apr 2009

Stockholm-based sports television agency, IEC in Sports has reached an agreement for the exclusive worldwide television distribution of three major badminton properties: The Indonesian Open, Asian Badminton Championships and the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Indonesian Open forms part of the BWF Super Series and is a co-operation with Trans 7. The event takes place in Stadium Istora Senayan, from June 15-21 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

“We have great production facilities for badminton and we are pleased to make a successful long-term cooperation with IEC in Sports and their international broadcast partners” said Riqo Irwan, Head of Programming and Licensing, at Trans 7.

“This is a dynamic partnership with the leading Indonesian sports broadcaster, Trans 7 to distribute the event on a global basis. We are excited to announce live television broadcast; web-streaming and features and interviews on “World of Badminton” the sports’ own magazine show’ said Jonas Persson, C.E.O. of IEC in Sports.

The Asian Badminton Championships ended on Sunday April 12th in Suwon, Korea. IEC in Sports distributed three days of live broadcast across the region, working closely with the host broadcaster, SBS and the Korean Badminton Association.

The Malaysian Grand Prix Gold will take place in Johor Baru, Malaysia from June 22-28th.

“Malaysia continues to be the leading host nation of international badminton events. We have worked with IEC in Sports recently in relation to the Proton Malaysian Open Super Series and the recent BWF Super Series Grand Finals and appreciate their television expertise.” said Ganga Rao, Honorary Secretary for the Badminton Association of Malaysia.
