In its efforts to ensure that the sport of badminton is widely promoted, IBF have appointed Stockholm based, IEC in Sports to handle global television coordination for the newly launched IBF Super Series, scheduled to start in January 2007.
The plan is to offer international television broadcasters a package of Super Series events from 2007-2009 inclusive. IEC already works closely with the majority of National Badminton Associations through the current IBF Grand Prix circuit since 1995.
"The International Badminton Federation is committed to refining and enhancing the sport, to create a genuine global entertainment brand. The IBF Super Series is a key part of that strategy.
IEC in Sports has a long history with badminton and an excellent track record in distributing IBF Grand Prix events globally. We look forward to a strong partnership and excellent results," said Datuk Punch Gunalan, IBF Deputy President.
"Badminton helped IEC break into the global television market. Since 1994, we have worked closely with the sport. We are therefore very pleased to partner with the governing body with the IBF Super Series – the finest badminton events the sport can offer,” said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports.
The Super Series will also utilize the tournament management system of tournamentsoftware.com, who created the new digital score sheet and scoring system which is being used in the QI-IBF World Championships 2006, Madrid, Spain.
