Infront and Ticketcorner Form Strategic Ticketing Partnership
Zurich / Zug, Switzerland, 3 August 2007 – Ticketing is increasingly important to organizers of major sports events - it has become a job for specialists. Infront Sports & Media and one of the leading European providers of ticketing solutions, Ticketcorner, have met this need by establishing a strategic partnership, which has been announced today.
The aim is to leverage all synergies in the marketing of major international sports events by approaching the market together. The companies will identify areas of cooperation within the extensive sports property portfolio of Infront as well as other new business opportunities in the sports market industry. Through the partnership with Ticketcorner the Infront Group now covers many of the primary service aspects of major sports events, including hospitality, perimeter advertising, client servicing, venue dressing, and ticketing.
Ticketcorner also became a partner of the Organising Committee 2009 IIHF World Championship AG, a joint venture between Infront and the Swiss Ice hockey Federation (SEHV). A separate agreement covers the ticket sales for the 2009 IIHF World Championship in ice hockey in Switzerland. Ticketcorner will handle the distribution on behalf of the event’s Organising Committee.
Thomas Lessenich, Director Sports Services at Infront, said: “Through the partnership with Ticketcorner, the Infront Group significantly enhances its sport services offering. We are now able to serve our clients and the fans better by providing a complete, first-class ticketing solution to event organisers worldwide – from printing through to sales.”
“It is the same as with all team sports: Together we are strong”, added George Egloff, CEO of Ticketcorner. “The working partnership with Infront offers new business opportunities to Ticketcorner, as both the international sports market and the demand for professional ticketing are constantly growing. The cooperation means that Ticketcorner can continue to implement its ambitious growth strategy.”
Both companies have a proven track-record in their respective businesses and international expertise. The Infront Group is currently expanding into the area of sports services, with the objective of providing a complete menu of specialised services for event organisers. A dedicated division – Infront Sports Services – is focusing the experience and operational expertise gained on events such as the FIFA World Cup™, the IIHF World Championship and Germany’s international matches to the needs of other events, with the objective of assisting organising committees and sports federations to raise the standards of professional event management and operations.
As part of the company’s long-term strategy, Ticketcorner has put an additional focus on sport. It managed successfully the advance ticket sales for the 2007 IHF Handball World Championship in Germany, proving the capabilities of its technical platform within this project. The company recently announced agreements with the two top football clubs of Zurich - FC Zürich and Grasshoppers Zürich.
