Interpol, Hong Kong FA, ICSS and Sportradar to address extent of match fixing at Soccerex

Earlier this year, the Hong Kong FA suspended two First Division clubs after players were arrested by the Hong Kong Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC) amid an investigation into alleged match-fixing. As CEO, Mark Sutcliffe has been at the forefront of the HKFA’s actions and has held meetings with FIFA, Interpol, the Hong Kong Police Force and ICAC to develop a national coordinated framework to prevent future incidents of match-fixing and prepare an action plan for the HKFA and other stakeholders.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros joined ICSS early this year after nine years as CEO of the European Professional Football League Association (EPFL). In his new role as Chief Executive of The ICSS Europe, Emanuel will spearhead the organisation’s efforts to strengthen their position in the continent and provide a focal point to address emerging trends which further threaten sport at global level, such as issues around third-party ownership of players’ economic right, financial integrity, good governance in sport and protection of young athletes.

Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System is internationally recognised as a leading tool in identifying irregular betting behaviours before and during sporting fixtures. The company’s Fraud Prevention Services approach the problem from a different angle: using workshops and e-learning tools to educate those who participate in sport about the dangers of match fixing. As Director of Security Services, Darren Small will provide a valuable insight into how leading federations and leagues worldwide use both to preserve the integrity of their sports and competitions.
