IOC President and Google UX Lead for Social Good to speak at the annual AISTS graduation ceremony

Olympics - 19 Jan 2016

Tuesday 19 January 2016, Lausanne, Switzerland – International Olympic Committee President, Thomas Bach, and Google’s User Experience Lead for Social Good, Peter Jin Hong, have been confirmed as the opening and closing keynote speakers at the 13th annual AISTS Master of Sport Administration (MSA) graduation ceremony.

With 2016 being a momentous year for the Olympic Movement, including the staging of the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lillehammer 2016 , the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016 as well as the launch of the Olympic Channel, the keynote address by President Bach to the nearly 40 future leaders in sport is highly anticipated.

“This year’s graduates of the AISTS MSA programme are entering the fast-changing world of sport in an Olympic Year. It is my hope that the graduates will soon make their mark in the Olympic Movement, to shape the future of sport worldwide,” said IOC President Thomas Bach.

Concluding the evening will be Google’s User Experience Lead for Social Good, Peter Jin Hong, who will share insight into “Google thinking”, leading innovation and influencing user behavioural change. An award-winning creative director, Peter has led the user experience design and innovation at Google for over seven years, including for Gmail (mobile), Google Search (mobile) and Google + Photos.

“The 2015 class has shown what collective ambition and heart can achieve in 14 months,” says Dr Claude Stricker, AISTS Executive Director. “They won the first ever UEFA Youth League University Challenge, created and organised a sport event in less than two weeks that raised over 1,000chf for charity, and much more. It is therefore a thrill for us that President Bach and Mr Hong be the fitting end to what has been an incredible learning experience.”

Among a class representing 26 different nationalities, this year’s graduates include world record holder and Olympian, Wilson Kipketer, along with fellow Olympians, Scott Richardson and Anne-Sophie Thilo.

The AISTS MSA Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday 18 February at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne Switzerland.

Previous speakers at the AISTS MSA Graduation include Former VP of NIKE Access to Sport, Lisa McCallum Carter, Former CEO of Triathlon Australia, Anne Gripper, who pioneered the biological passport for cycling as well as South African Olympic and Paralympic Swimmer, Ms Natalie du Toit.

Media representatives and journalists will have the opportunity to attend the upcoming AISTS MSA graduation ceremony.
