ISF Names Protocol Director
Ramaz Goglidze of the Republic of Georgia has been named the International Softball Federation (ISF) Director of Protocol. The announcement was made today by ISF President Don Porter from the world headquarters in Plant City, Florida. The appointment takes effect immediately.
"Ramaz has made many contributions to sports over the years, and softball specifically, and this will surely be a continuation of such efforts for him,” Mr. Porter said. “His connections and knowledge are valuable resources that are a perfect fit for this role.”
As Director of Protocol, Goglidze will ensure that at ISF events, meetings, and other functions, proper protocol is followed in greeting dignitaries, seating arrangements, introductions, and special needs of VIPs.
Upon accepting this new post, Goglidze said, “I'll continue serving our beloved Olympic Sport in good faith worldwide as I have always done before.” He indicated that he goes into the role, “Thinking about efficient performance in this capacity, using all my experience, knowledge, and international contacts.”
Currently the President of the Georgia Softball Federation, Goglidze was once the Minister of Sports of Georgia, from where he will serve in this new role with the ISF. He was an ISF Vice President/Europe from mid-November 2001 to late October 2005. At the time of his Minister of Sports position he was also Executive Member of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the USSR.
Goglidze’s broad background also includes, but is not limited to, the following: Mayor of the City of Tbilisi, General Director of the Foreign Economic Service of the Council of Ministers of Georgia, and Member of Executive National Olympic Committee of Georgia.
The ISF is the world governing body of the sport as recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF). Softball (women's fast pitch) made its Olympic debut at the 1996 Games in Atlanta. There are 127 affiliated countries in the ISF and millions of participants in the sport worldwide.
