ISL aquire exclusive international rights to the five key domestic Brazilian competitions

PelÚ, Zico, Romario, Jairzinho, Garrincha Ronaldo are just some of the legends past and present who have played in the best known soccer country in the World: Brazil.

Under a far-reaching agreement with the domestic rightsholders for Brazilian football, Globo TV, ISL exclusively represents the international rights to the five key domestic Brazilian competitions. This is the first time that all international rights to domestic Brazilian soccer have been consolidated into one programming opportunity.

The deal covers the year-round domestic commitments of such well known clubs sides as:

Corinithians (Sao Paulo)
Brasileiro champions '90, '98

Toyota Cup '92-'93
Copa Libertadores '92-'93
Brasileiro '77, '86, '91
Santos (Sao Paulo)
Toyota Cup '62-'63
Copa Libertadores '62-'63
Brasileiro '61, '62, '63, '64, '65

Cruzeiro (Belo Horizonte)

As a general guide the package includes the following matches which have been scheduled through to the end of 2000.

All matches will be available live with English graphics and commentary on a multilateral basis. Host broadcasters - Globo/Globosat.

Matches take place on Wednesdays, Saturday's and Sundays. Kick-off times below:

Torneio Rio-Sao Paulo (Rio and Sao Paulo Cup)

February - 6 matches (+2 possible tiebreaks)
1 March - 1 Match

Format
Two groups of four teams. Best two teams from each group play semi-finals. Winner plays final.

Carioca and Paulista (Rio and Sao Paulo State Championships respectively)
8 March - 16 matches
April - 22 matches
May - 25 matches
11 June - 4 matches

Format
10 or 12 teams (tbc) played in a league basis home and away. Final played by winners of first half and second half of championships.

Copa do Brasil (Brazil Cup)
14 June - 6 matches
July - 2 matches
12 August - 3 matches

Format
Knock-out competition. Winner plays Libertadores Cup
'Brasileiro' (Brazilian National Championships)

19 August - 6 matches
September - 9 matches
October - 7 matches
November - 7 matches
23 December - 5 (+2 possible tiebreaks)

Format: A points league between 22 teams (21 matches each team) decides which 8 teams will move into the quarter finals. Followed by semi-finals and finals, teams play the best of three.

Rights packages comprising of a range of formats can be tailor- made to suit all individual broadcaster requirements.
