ISU Regional Junior Ice Dance Coaches Seminar - Europe
The ISU Ice Dance Technical Committee in cooperation with the ISU Coaches Commission and under the auspices of the ISU Development Commission will be holding a Seminar for Junior European Dance Coaches in Szekesfehervar, Hungary from April 12 to 16, 2000
providing sufficient applications are received.
Goal:
The Ice Dance Committee hopes to increase the knowledge of junior level coaches with a view to developing dancers in Europe who have a sound foundation in ice dance. It is hoped in future to hold similar seminars in other regions of the World.
Program:
The Seminar will cover the following topics:
on-ice instruction on base level techniques for the junior compulsory dances (2000/2001)
interpretation of rules and regulations and required elements
dance patch exercises
music, costuming and choreographic principles for the original dance & free dance
off-ice instruction on psychology, nutrition, ballet and ballroom dancing
Participants:
Applications (one per European Member) will be accepted on a "first-come-first-served" basis for coaches interested in training junior level dancers or lower. Preference will be given to coaches who did not attend the recent Ice Dance Coaches Seminar in Morzine and who do not have Senior level Couples who placed higher than 15th at the most recent World or European Figure Skating Championships. One coach per European Member, up to a limit of 40, may apply but more coaches per Member may be admitted should numbers permit.

In addition, other lecturers will be present for off-ice sessions.
Expenses:
The ISU will support coaches (one per Member) in the following way:
1. The ISU will pay the living expenses (room and meals) for up to 40 participating coaches for the period from dinner on Wednesday April 12th to lunch on Sunday April 16, 2000. Transportation to and from the airport or train station in Budapest to Szekesfehervar which is located approximately 60 kilometers from Budapest will also be provided along with transportation between the arena and hotel.
2. There will be no charge for the Seminar itself.
3. If the total number of participating coaches is less than 40, the ISU will also pay the above mentioned expenses for additional coaches from the same Member with first priority being given according to the date on which the application is received at the ISU Secretariat.
Travel expenses to and from Budapest shall be borne by the Member or the coach concerned.
Arrival of Participants: To commence with a welcoming reception and dinner at 18:00 hours on Wednesday April 12 at the Viking Apartment Hotel (Galler u. 2.,H-2484 Agard, Tel.: +36-22 370-287, Fax: +36-22 370-550) in Agard (15 minutes from the ice rink).
Reservations for participants will be made at the hotel.
End of Seminar: Sunday April 16 at 13:00 hours.
Equipment Required:
Coaches are requested to bring their skates (if possible) and warm clothes for the on-ice activities. They are also required to bring a copy of the current ISU Dance Regulations (1998).
Application process and deadline:
Applications by Member, or individual coach, should be sent by post or fax to the ISU Secretariat with a copy to the Secretary of the Hungarian National Skating Federation and must be received not later than March 10, 2000. Copies of these applications will be sent by the ISU Secretariat to the Ice Dance Technical Committee Liaison.
